Solid Wall Insulation

Approximately 35% of all heat lost from UK homes is from external walls. If your home was built before the 1920s it's external walls are probably solid rather than cavity walls. As solid walls have no internal gap, they are unable to be filled with cavity wall insulation. Solid walls can be concrete, metal, timber or stone and are often found in high rise flats built between 1953 and 1972. A good way to check you have a solid wall is to measure the external wall thickness (the best way to check is at a window recess or door frame). If it is less than 25cm (c.9") it is most likely to be a solid wall.

Why should you use solid wall insulation?

By reducing the amount of heat lost through your walls you will lower your fuel bills, noticeably increase the heat in your home, and reduce your carbon footprint. As a nation we have stringent carbon targets to meet to protect our environment, and by insulating your property you will be doing your bit to help..

How is it done?

Solid wall insulation can be fitted internally or externally. Some homes are only suitable for internal wall insulation as the property may be a listed building or in a conservation area with restrictions on external appearances. However, external wall insulation will change the outside appearance of your home which can make the property more attractive.

External Wall Insulation

Our specialist installers will firstly fix a layer of insulation material to the outside of your home using adhesive and special fixings. They will then cover this with a special type of waterproof render which needs to dry for up to 48 hours. Lastly the decorative finish will be applied. The finished look can be pebble dash, brick effect render, or dry cladding to give a fresh, long-lasting look to your home.
