Off-peak storage heaters are designed to operate using off-peak electricity which is much cheaper, in homes that are not served by gas mains central heating. The units will store heat at a reduced rate until it is needed to warm your home. Off-peak electricity costs about a third of peak time price so is more efficient and better for your pocket.
Types of storage heater
There are four types of storage heater
Manual Control Models - The user will have to manually set the amount of energy to be stored overnight. These models are now being phased out.
Automatic Models - These models are more efficient and use room temperature to automatically adjust the overnight charge.
Combination Models - These models are much the same as the automatic models, but the user can also top-up in the daytime using peak rate energy with more advanced controls.
Quantum - These are high heat retention storage heaters with automatic smart controls that charge to the exact amount required. The core is highly insulated with a fan to extract the heat when required and provide extra heat during the day if needed.

Quantum offers a "new" boost function which can provide a temporary boost of heat outside of timed periods. An "AWAY" mode allows the heater to be used at a low background temperature while you are away, avoiding problems such as damp and mould in your home.
You can also control your Quantum from your mobile phone using the "Dimplex Control Smartphone App" (hub unit must be purchased additionally). This will enable you to control your heaters remotely and track your energy usage wherever you are.
